Literacy Intervention

The Orton-Gillingham literacy approach is a structured, multi-sensory method for teaching literacy, effective for individuals with dyslexia and other learning difficulties.

Difficulties

  • Difficulty with letter-sound recognition (connecting letters with their sounds)
  • Limited phonemic awareness skills (identifying and producing letter sounds)
  • Difficulty blending sounds (combining sounds to form sounds)
  • Reduced reading rate (slow, choppy reading)
  • Frequent spelling errors (several mistakes when writing)
  • Difficulty rhyming (understanding rhymes and word manipulation)
  • Avoiding reading and writing tasks
