With the cold winter weather upon us, we want to make sure you can continue to get some sensory activities indoors! Here three winter-themed sensory activities to keep the sensory fun going while staying warm inside.
Snow Paint You will need: Shaving Cream Elmer’s Glue Paintbrush Cardstock To make the snow paint, mix equal parts shaving cream and glue. Use fingers or paintbrush to paint with the snow paint (it dries puffy to look like snow!) Get creative! You can make snowflakes, blizzards, or snowmen! Use cardstock to cut out shapes to add to your painting, like trees, eyes, hat, arms, etc. Arctic Slime You will need: Clear glue White glue Water Liquid Starch Measuring Cup Blue food coloring Glitter Snowflake Confetti Bowl Spoon In a bowl, mix 1/4 cup of clear glue, 1/4 cup of white glue, and 1/2 cup of warm water. Mix well. Add food coloring, glitter, and confetti, and continue to mix. Add 1/4 cup of liquid starch, and continue to mix. Melting Ice Castles You will need: Sand castle mold Baking soda Water Glitter Food Coloring Vinegar Eye dropper Bowl Spoon Slowly add water to baking soda and mix until it becomes a crumbly dough. Mix in glitter (never too much!) and pack the baking soda and glitter dough into sand castle molds. Place in the freezer and allow to freeze solid. Once the dough has frozen, remove from mold and place on a tray (to catch any melting castle walls). Using the eye dropper, slowly drop vinegar onto the castle and watch it melt!
